Nina West, Ashley Eckstein to Host Her Universe Fashion Show at Comic-Con: For the first time since 2019, the Her Universe Fashion Show will be held in person at San Diego Comic-Con. On July 21, SDCC will hold the eighth annual Her Universe Fashion Show, a competition showcasing haute couture outfits inspired by popular culture properties. 26 designers competed for the opportunity to design a collection for Her Universe for Hot Topic.

This year’s concert is presented by drag queen Nina West and show originator Ashley Eckstein, who is well known as the voice of Asoka Tano in several “Star Wars” projects. The panel of judges consists of the winners of the 2021 virtual competition, Teighlor Johnson, Skyler Barrett, and Vivien Lee, as well as fashion industry experts Elena Vrska and Mallory Leveille. One reward will be awarded by the panel and the other by the audience. To commemorate the return of an in-person Comic-Con following the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s theme is “Coming Home.”

“I am ecstatic that our event will return in person after a three-year absence,” Eckstein said in a statement. This year’s theme was chosen since San Diego Comic-Con is not just the home of our fashion show but also a home for myself and the fans. This year, we have an incredible roster of designers, and I cannot wait to share the stage with my close friend Nina West. This is an event you will not want to miss.

Her Universe and Hot Topic present the Her Universe Fashion Show. On the first day of Comic-Con, the event will be held in the Harbor Ballroom of the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel. The event is free for all attendees of San Diego Comic-Con.
